So far so good!

I am continuing to work on my resolutions and doing pretty good. Friday night a friend came over and we had some noshes along with Malibu rum. Got a little tipsy but let out a little pent up energy. Saturday was busy with errands.

I had Cody with me as Copper was being groomed. Went to Camarillo to see my friend DeeDee. Cody just adores her! Dee works on Saturdays so we only had an hour. We had a quick lunch but it was good to see her. I need to continue to get out and do things.

Today, Sunday is set for sewing, errands and cleaning including working in the front flower gardens.

Keep plugging along!

It's been a few days since I blogged. Work has been extremely busy and mainly positive. Heard from the main office that I am doing a good job! I hardly ever hear this so it was awesome to find out.

An ethical challenge arose today where I would have had to lie to the owner for a vendor. After discussing with the vendor, he came clean. I would not have lied - I could be fired for doing so. Who knows it could have been a test to see if I was honest (I don't think so!)

The healthy eating is still having some challenges but I think I will always have them. It's better and have been walking, walking and walking.

Still working on the dating things too but I feel so much more positive about my life.

First Day Back To Work

Today was the first day back to work after being off for 4 days. It was a bit difficult but stuck to my plans fairly well.

Had my HVAC vendor come check the furnace to find out that it is not big enough for the house. Plus it is new. I guess it will have to wait and there's really nothing wrong.

More later.

Busy! Busy! Busy!

I have been super busy today with the dogs at the dog park, grocery shopping and running to Thousand Oaks to find matching fabric for an order. All done and a quick look around the Home Goods store too. Had blinders on as I love that store.

Then home to continue laundry and cleaning the house. The dogs have been tearing up there toys and polyfil is every where! Still cleaning and sorting and moving everything around since switching bedrooms. Cleaned the sewing room as it was a disaster. Better but still not complete. At least you can see the floor and move around.

Then I hit a brick wall of exhaustion. I guess I am still not over the asthma crap. I feel so much better but still coughing yucky stuff out of my lungs.

Still very positive about my goals and was very conscious about what I bought at the grocery store. It's a great feeling that there's someone out there who likes you and thinks you are beautiful other than your mother. Whether it goes somewhere or not, it's been a big boost to my self confidence.

Off to rest and then back to sewing.

January 2 and taking first step towards resolutions

Yesterday I posted about my goals for 2010. Some of them involve my Etsy shops and others are health and personal priorities.

One of my goals is to get out more. I spoke with my friend Jackie and we agreed to get together one or twice a month. These outings would NOT revolve around food. They would involve movies, bowling, shopping or some other fun we can find and definitely NOT the bar scene.

Today I went back to being a blond. Not platinum or anything just highlights. I know the hair dresser from the Traveling Boutique and loved how she did another friend's hair. Wendy did a fabulous job and I had a lot fun while there.

She mentioned that she and her single friends go out for karaoke about once a month and invited me to join her them. I sing horribly but I said I would love to go. I can't wait and will report the details.

I have been watching Julie and Julia. While I may not be blogging about cooking with Julia Child, blogging about my successes, distractions, etc. may help vent and carry me through more difficult times. Comments also help.

Onward...

Today is First Day of 2010!

It's hard to believe another year has come and gone already. What happened to 2009? It is was a successful year for me on Etsy and craft shows. I am pleased with the success of my shops. I have several goals in mind and I need to redefine exactly what I want to create.

  1. Do I want to continue with 3 shops? I will keep the AnnieK shop as it's the main one and continue to expand the line. Sometimes I think my items are too plain so I will be adding more appliqued items. Potholders, coffee press cozies and trivets worked out well so I will be continuing that trend.
  2. Codys Closet will expand to include cat items and will add some dog bandanas, blankets and possibly leashes to match the collars.
  3. AnnieKClothing - This is the one I am the most disappointed in. It is also the one that I ignore the most. I will not be sewing any more fleece wraps; will add more bags so there is a better selection. We'll go from there.
My approach also needs to change. Listing one item, for example of a coffee cozy, rather than listing 3 or 4 makes more sense and gives a buyer many more choices rather than moving to another shop with more options.

For me personally my number one goal is my health. My asthma is out of control and needs to be brought under control. To do this, after visiting the doctor, I will be losing weight. I started drinking Pepsi again and am so ready to give it up. Exercise, exercise, exercise.

I also have to get myself to the dentist. I have a good dentist, I just think of them as butchers! I have to schedule oral surgery and I will be off for 3-4 days from work. Not going to be fun but it has to be done.

My other goal is to get myself out there for dating. I have been on a few dates with someone I really, really like but it is casual and there are no commitments.

Well that's a lot of accomplish in a year so I guess I better get started.

Happy New Year!
